Reviews of Sylvania NB530SLX Blu-ray Disc Player (Black)
Customer Review: I purchased this blu-ray player at the end of March. By the end of July it would no longer play blu-ray disks. I contacts sustomer service who stated I probably needed a firmware update. I downloaded the update and installed it on my player. This did not correct the problem. I called again and was told that sometimes downloaded updates do not work and they would mail me out a disk. This disk took almost 2 weeks to arrive. I called during the wait and was told they were out of disks but it should arrive any day. Once I recieved the disk, I completed the update steps. The player STILL will not work. Funai customer service is now telling me if I want it repaired they will charge me at least $60 for labor! They will only cover the parts! I realize that this was not the most expensive blu ray player, but I will not pay almost the same amount for a repair that I paid to buy the unit LESS THAN 6 months after I purchased it. And, if this is the kind of customer service that I will recieve from Sylvania/Funai, I will not be purchasing any more of their products.
Customer Review: This blu ray dvd player is fantastic! We have watched Half-Blood Prince, Transformers 1 & 2, Star Trek, and Hellboy 2 on this player. You can absolutely tell the difference between watching these movies on a regular dvd as opposed to blu-ray. This player has full 1080p output, HDMI and VGA outputs, easy setup as well as a pip function. I would recommend this player to anyone as a great starter blu-ray player.
Customer Review: This Sylvania blue ray player is great for the money. I also have a Panisonic Blue Ray player and I have to say that I think the Sylvania is easier to use, quieter, and at half of the price an all around better buy. The picture is great as well. The only thing that I regret is that I should have bought the upgraded version with the internet streaming capabilites to be able to get netflix or blockbuster.
Customer Review: This Blu-ray player was a steal at the $62 refurb price I paid for it. The picture quality is great. It does onboard decoding of the new lossless audio codecs (DTS-HD and Dolby TrueHD). The load time isn't too bad for a blu-ray player either. All and all this was a super purchase.
Customer Review: I bought this blu ray player to use with netflix. I get two blu ray movies a week for $11.00. All movies so far have played with great sound & picture. I've watched about a dozen movies. It dosen't have wireless for streaming movies, but I don't need this as I get streaming movies through my WII player.
